The Healthy eating guru and nutrition blogger tells us all about her foodie loves and hates.
Coconuts have this amazing ability to make any dish, whether sweet or savoury, taste delicious. I make curries with the milk, cook stir fries with the oil or mix smoothies with the water. Fortunately coconuts are really good for you too – they’re a great source of healthy fats, magnesium and potassium.
I can’t go a day without some form of egg, whether it’s scrambled, fried, poached, dropped into ramen noodles or baked in a cake. I love them! But my eggs have to be really good quality, like the ones from Clarence Court. They have the most deliciously creamy golden yolk, and I feel good knowing the hens are free-range and free to roam. Eggs are the most nutritionally complete food, packed full of flavour and protein.
I get jittery after even a sniff of coffee so matcha is my caffeine fix of choice. Matcha green tea lattes give me that perfect pick me up in the morning without messing with my sleep later on. I love blending it with some frothy rice milk and adding a drop of collagen powder too – that habit has done wonders for my skin and nails.
I hate when they burst in your mouth! The texture is too much for me. I know that fish eggs are a delicacy but I don’t think there are any flavours that will mask the crunch, which sends a shiver down my spine!
EATING THE SAME THING EVERY NIGHT
I love variety and trying new foods and flavours. And from a health perspective it’s important to get nutrients from a range of produce. It’s never fun to get stuck in a rut in any part of your life, and food is absolutely central to our wellbeing.
I’ve got shivers just thinking about it. I don’t get mayo at all; it’s so slippery and wobbly. I can’t get on board with it.
GETTING FOOD STUCK IN MY TEETH
It’s never a good look. Blueberries and chia seeds are the killer for me – those pesky little fellas often get wedged between my teeth. If you see me with food stuck in my teeth please do tell me – I’d much rather know than realise a couple of hours later when I look in the mirror!
